Approach and Training

Welcome!

In my practice, I combine a warm, client-centered approach with evidence-based techniques to help you achieve meaningful and lasting change. My work is rooted in the understanding that every person is unique, and so too are the challenges they face. That’s why I tailor each session to your specific needs, ensuring that our work together is both effective and supportive.

My mission is to support you in cultivating more supporting programming so that you can navigate anxiety, stress, fear, and your thoughts confidently and with ease.

Life inevitably presents us with challenges, it’s how we manage them that is essential.

My method

In my practice, I recognize that each individual is unique, so I employ a tailored blend of CBT, hypnosis, mindfulness, breathwork, and self-coaching techniques to effectively support you in achieving your goals.

Here’s how each method contributes to your journey:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based approach that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors. By recognizing the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and actions, CBT helps you develop healthier thinking patterns and more effective coping strategies. Through practical exercises and real-life applications, we’ll work together to shift unhelpful beliefs and replace them with more positive and supportive ones, leading to lasting change in how you feel and act.

Hypnosis is a powerful therapeutic tool that allows access to the subconscious mind, where deep-seated beliefs and behaviors reside. In a state of focused relaxation, you become more open to positive suggestions and new perspectives. Through guided hypnosis, we’ll work on reprogramming your subconscious with supportive thoughts and responses, helping you overcome challenges such as anxiety, phobias, and low self-esteem. Hypnosis is a collaborative process, and you remain fully in control, using the power of your mind to create the change you desire.

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing your full attention to the present moment, without judgment. By cultivating awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations, mindfulness helps you develop a deeper understanding of your inner experience. This practice is integrated into our sessions to help you manage stress, reduce anxiety, and improve emotional regulation. Through mindfulness, you’ll learn to respond to life’s challenges with greater calm and clarity, breaking free from automatic reactions and creating space for thoughtful, intentional choices.

Breathwork involves using controlled breathing techniques to influence your mental, emotional, and physical state. By focusing on your breath, you can activate the body’s natural relaxation response, reduce stress, and enhance emotional well-being. In our sessions, breathwork is used as a tool to help you ground yourself in the present moment, manage anxiety, and regulate your nervous system. These techniques are easy to learn and can be practiced anywhere, empowering you to take control of your well-being in any situation

Self-Coaching is a powerful method that empowers you to become your own guide and mentor. Through self-coaching, you’ll learn how to set clear, actionable goals and develop strategies to overcome obstacles and achieve personal growth. I’ll teach you practical tools and techniques that you can use independently to navigate challenges, make confident decisions, and stay aligned with your values and aspirations. This approach fosters self-reliance and resilience, giving you the confidence to take charge of your life and make lasting positive changes, even beyond our sessions.

My Therapy Values

  • Client Confidentiality and Approval: In and out of the therapy room you will be met with confidentiality and approval; whatever you have experienced or are navigating will be kept between us. This offers you a safe space to honestly and openly process, receive holding, and ultimately create change.

  • Loving Honesty: As well as seeing you and validating you in your experiences and feelings I will also lovingly reflect to you your blindspots. I understand that people hire me to create change, not just to agree with them.

  • A Team Approach: We are partners in this journey. While I bring professional expertise and guidance, your insights and feedback are equally valuable. Together, we will collaborate to develop a treatment plan that truly works for you, ensuring that you feel empowered and capable of supporting yourself long after our sessions.

  • Encouragement of Your Full Range of Emotions: Healing is not limited to addressing only the challenging or painful aspects of life; it also includes celebrating joy, experiencing laughter, and processing grief. My approach is to create a space where all emotions are welcomed and valued. Whether it’s through playful moments, tears, or moments of deep reflection, our sessions will honor the richness of your emotional experience, supporting you in a holistic and balanced way.

Traffic Light Method for Safety and Growth

To ensure safety and facilitate progress in our work together, I use a traffic light system. This system helps us measure the emotional intensity and safety of the topics we explore:

  • Green (Comfortable): This indicates that you’re in a comfortable and safe space. It’s where you feel at ease and can reflect without significant emotional discomfort. While it’s important to have periods of comfort, we also want to ensure that we’re making progress.

  • Yellow (Edgy but Safe): This represents a level of challenge that is slightly uncomfortable but still manageable. It’s an opportunity to explore new ideas, question beliefs, and push the boundaries of your comfort zone. Engaging with amber areas helps create meaningful change and growth, often showing yourself you’re safer than you think.

  • Red (Danger): This signifies a level of emotional intensity or risk that may be overwhelming. We aim to avoid entering the red zone, as it can be too distressing and counterproductive to our goals.

In our sessions, I will encourage you to move beyond the green zone and engage with the amber areas. This approach allows us to challenge and transform limiting beliefs or behaviors while ensuring that we stay within a safe and manageable range. By embracing the amber zones, we create opportunities for significant change and personal growth. I also trust you to let me know if something feels like it could lead to red to prevent us from moving backward. You can take this principle and apply it to your life too.
